Swimming Meet

Yesterday, I went for the my base combined swimming training at Brani. My actual intention was to slack, relax and laze around in the swimming pool for an hour or two before i report for night shift.

But who knows, i went and participate in the training proper even though i was entered for the novelty event only. 1st, we swam our strokes and were corrected on our techniques like how to improve the 'glide' and reduce the drag. Then we learn new strokes like the butterfly or even freestyle. Lastly we learn the approved way to leap off the start-off podium gracefully. Fun but painful ( especially my face and chest during the 1st few tries)

A colleague commented that i look like Emil Chau aka Wakin Chau .. =)

How i love to swim... seriously!

KFC

Staying at home today, i decided to order some takeaways.

Shall i go with McDonalds, KFC, PizzaHut...? Aiya, think KFC is the better choice since it is cheap and filling... but the tel. no is??

Nvm Google for it lor... then i chanced upon this old youtube video about the ill-treatment of the KFC chickens. Nevertheless i ordered in the end anyways..

Btw so the EOY trip has been decided. We are going to Vietnam, Hanoi. The dates are tentatively the last few days of December. We would be booking budget airline tickets via internet using a credit/debit card.

Regarding the Visa application to Vietnam - it is required.

F1

It is the F1 weekend in Singapore. All the hype and all the media coverage. How could i resist not commenting on this once in a lifetime "night race" - a world "1st" , so very typical of Singapore.

Actually to be honest, give me a soccer match versus a F1 race anytime and i would choose the latter without even batting a eyelid. The only time i set my eyes on a match was when it was the end of all the soccer leagues and the pubs had to display some pictures on their TVs for all the patrons which included me. F1 to be brutally honest, is just plain boring until today.

F1 Qualifying. Q1/Q2/Q3. After all the 'Q's , i was engaged by the excitement when the racers are trying their best to beat their lap timings to progress further. Poor Alonso got eliminated during Q2 due to fuel problems, sad ending for a former World 1st. Hamilton also nearly got eliminated as he spent too much time in the pits, which left him 14th place with two laps to go. Luckily for him, he calmly finished Q2 10th place. The finale Q3 ended with a final fight between Hamilton and Massa with Massa ending the night with pole position.

I am going to google more about the F1. Too bad i can't watch tomorrow's Grand Prix Finals at 8pm, got to work. Boring!!!

So interesting!!!

Bintan/Hanoi/Star Virgo

Basically Bintan is by far the cheapest. If three persons sharing a room, for a 3D2N trip "smelly smelly" $200-300 SGD. Btw the prices are valid til 19th December only except for the 'Bintan Lagoon Resort'.

For the Vietnam trip, the cheapest for a 3D2N stay plus air tickets at a 3*hotel is about $800 plus airport taxes.

We can also consider Star Cruise for the Xmas/NY week. However be prepared to have a burnt pocket as it will easily cost over $900 SGD for a decent cabin room and at least $600 for the bare minimum.

A few more days the travel agent will call me and update me on the latest travel prices and stuff. Will update then..

How to season my shoes in a week?

My new bball shoes

Left exactly a week til the competition and today is the 1st day i wore my shoes to shoot hoops. As we know new shoes "bite", therefore i have to clock more mileage for them by utilizing them more often a.k.a seasoning.

I could,
  1. Wear them everywhere, everyday, anytime. Be it sleeping, having breakfast, going to work... maybe even bathing?
  2. Use them intensively by intensively training intensively.

Or take the word seasoning laterally and coat my shoes with spices etc.

On our trip

The Meeting

After discussing with sm des and jon, we narrowed down the options to either bintan, vietnam or cruiseship

Des and i went to look at the prices for cruiseship... the prices are abt 800 for 3d2n- too exp. , we thought.

So it is down to bintan or vietnam..

If we choose Bintan ,
Our trip being in the December is during the period of maximum rainfall. Thus any idea of engaging in seasports is completely out of the picture thus if we are going to bintan, we can go for spa, go-karting/ Buggy ride etc. However the plus point for going bintan is that it is a short 1hr ferry trip and can save on time/air tickets/visa application hazzle...

If we choose Vietnam, we have to book the air tickets in advance like ASAP. Vietnam is a better place for wet weather season??

GK's Bday at KuiShin Bo

Yesterday was a hell of a night!

The whole gang went to Kuishin bo to celebrate Gk's 21st bday. We had all the finest delicacy last night including the ever-juicy snow crab, fresh prawns, tuna/salmon sashimi, chocolate fondue...

The seafood

The sushi spread

Deserts

The thing that is special about this jap restaurant is that it is very cosy and family oriented. Not to mention the every 15-30mins 'special' which may be anything random such as home made desert to live seafood..etc

However the experience is not very cheap, we paid about $42 pax.

Then went drinking at wala wala at holland v with chow til late

Not bad... but no more snow crabs pls!!
